Safe Internet lessons at Moskomsport school

On April 22 and 26, experts of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ conducted Safe Internet lessons for primary and secondary school students at the Moscow-98 Education and Sports Center of Moskomsport. Over two days, more than 300 children took part in lectures and practical workshops.

Thus, Center’s project manager Alexander Drozdov told second-graders about the rules of online behavior, netiquette, and the most common fraudulent schemes. Young Internet users tried to find answers to questions about what kind of safe Internet it is, what information can be published in the public domain, and how not to fall for the bait of criminals. At the end of the lesson, the Chairman of the Youth Council of the Center Andrey Aleinikov held a quiz for the children “Study the Internet & Govern It” with questions from the special section “CHILDREN”. It contains questions of reduced complexity about computer design, online games, sites and services, gadgets and devices, and much more.

For students in grades 5-8, lectures were given by the project manager of the Center, Evgeniy Pankov. Together with the guys, he analyzed cases with the most popular cyber fraud schemes, in particular phishing and its varieties - vishing (fraud by phone), quishing (phishing using QR codes) and smishing (fraud using SMS and messages in instant messengers). Evgeniy drew the students’ attention to signs that a website, message or call could be fake, and also tested the children’s vigilance by asking them to check the authenticity of the web resource of a well-known online store of household appliances. The lesson also covered the topics of personal data protection, the dangers of online communication with strangers and gambling. At the end of the lecture, Evgeniy invited the guys to the Domain Patrol website to learn more about the types of digital fraud and find out the hotline numbers of organizations involved in information security at different levels.

The most active participants in lessons and quizzes received prizes from the projects “Study the Internet & Govern It” and «Поддерживаю.РФ».
